Planet Creative was selected to provide a new trading name and to develop a matching identity suite for B2B procurement business Quadrem, Quadrem is owned by the 20 largest mining companies in the world and the business is a procurement exchange that plans to operate in 100 countries. Shareholder companies include Rio Tinto BHPBilliton, Alcan, Alcoa, DeBeers, Anglo American, Pechiney, Phelps Dodge, CVRD, Codelco and others, operating in over 45 countries at present. The project requirements were very stringent. The name had to be available as a business trading name and as a URL (domain name) in 100 countries. The name also had to clear cultural, linguistic and legal checks and it had to be passed by the board representing 14 shareholder companies. Planet Creative developed the name Quadrem (Resources Electronic Marketplace) and then set about developing a clean strong logo and corporate identity. Brochure, folders, stationery, and tradeshow displays were all designed by Planet Creative ahead of a dual international launch held in Las Vegas and London, concurrent with the world's largest mining tradeshow Minex. Planet also provided communications, media, advertising and support services to Quadrem over a period of 18 months.
